I cannot believe I missed what happened… You were the community itself. Accept it or not you still are. You can’t leave Just because some dickhead ignored your existence in the fandom. I mean come on! Anyone who knows the old games would appreciate people who loves Bi-Han. I might be a slut to different fictional men but Bi-han is definitely different. I appreciate you, loved your works. Fuck’em Sol, let’s create a group on tumblr for that, but we need to be careful about who we took in. I know you run a discord server but still, it would be fun. Think about it…

Once upon a time this was true, back when I wrote requests and head canons I was definitely part of the community. I was included in all the fun and games, people chatted with me regularly, I had loads of friends but the community has changed now, they’re mostly teens and 20 something’s who don’t care about an old dinosaur like me, especially not one who doesn’t create content anymore. I serve no purpose in today’s fandom, I’m just someone for them to block and ignore despite my trying. I feel as though a big part of the problem is that there’s so many minors now and as we all know I am not a minor friendly blog, that doesn’t mean me as a person isn’t friendly towards minors I just don’t want them reading my thirsty ass fics. I appreciate your kind words immensely though and am overjoyed you enjoy my works. I’m not entirely opposed to a tumblr group but wouldn’t have a clue on who to invite, I’m so very ostracized right now I don’t know that anyone would join. I just don’t know, I feel very lost, I still love Bi-Han more than anything but I also don’t want to annoy people further with it. The fact that very few people cared when I said goodbye to the fandom is proof that I just don’t belong anymore. It’s difficult, especially considering I’ve been a fan of the game longer than most of the new fanbase has been alive, but no one cares about that anymore. They’re all just in their little friend bubbles and won’t let anyone new or old in. It sucks but what can you do, like I said I just don’t belong anymore. I’d rather remove myself than be left out of everything and see Bi-Han constantly being at the bottoms of everyone’s charts, be the butt of “incorrect quotes” and be painted as a woman hating misogynist. It’s exhausting and I just can’t do it alone anymore. I’m still not opposed to a tumblr group but I can’t promise I’ll come back to the fandom, it’s just too lonely…

I actually love hearing about reformed people's stories. I love hearing about people who were in toxic communities or people who used to objectively be dickheads talking about how they got out of that. How they made themselves better.

I hate how most people's initial reaction to stories like that are things like:

"How could you have ever done those things?!" "Oh my god, you believed those things?!" "Well it doesn't un-do the harm you did!"

People incessantly advocate for change but then refuse to allow people who have changed the grace of being acknowledged and given opportunities and chances.

I love hearing about ex-antis talking about how they don't spend their days being angry and sending death threats anymore.

I love hearing about ex-homophobes who realized there's no magic law about what is "natural."

I love reformed bullies talking about how they made amends with their victims and spend their days being considerate of others.

You can't scream about wanting people to change but then expect them to spend the rest of their lives stuck in the past and on who they used to be. You can't expect people to spend the entire rest of their lives grovelling and apologizing and demeaning themselves.

Instead of clinging to who they were, latch onto who they are.

Ask how they got out of it. Commend them on changing. Enjoy that there's one less cause of harm in the world.

Regarding Fandom Trees & AMTs

Tag wrangling is, on the whole, a fluid process. It's meant to be, because the way language is used and the way tags are used change over time. We're the first to admit that we don’t always get it right, and that we do sometimes make mistakes despite our best intentions. This is why wrangling decisions are not set in stone and are reevaluated periodically as circumstances change or as new information becomes available. 

In light of the impact that removing the Sherlock Holmes & Related Fandoms metatag has had, we have put that metatag back in place. 

When it comes to fandom metatags and fandom trees, there is no 'one size fits all' approach that works for all fandoms. Consequently, we have placed a hold on all structural changes to fandom metatags, All Media Types fandoms (commonly called AMTs), and fandom trees while wranglers discuss the need for additional guidelines and adjustments to our approach regarding these tags going forward. 

This hold will remain in place until tag wranglers have had ample time to fully reevaluate our fandom wrangling guidelines with the aim of making it easier for Archive users to find the content they’re looking for and filter out the content they aren’t. This guideline reevaluation process is something we are actively working on, but it will likely take some time to complete. We will update again once these fandom guideline discussions have come to a close.

A quick tutorial on how to Download Fics from AO3

After making this poll about the panic that comes when Archive of Our Own goes down, there seems to be a chunk of folks who didn't know they could download fics for offline use, or don't know how to go about it. Here's a quick tutorial for that.

You do not need an AO3 account (unless the fic you are trying to download is restricted to AO3 users only) you only need an internet connection and a device to download to, whether it's PC or a phone.

These instructions work for both desktop and mobile. At the top of the fic, where the chapter index is, there will be the download option on the right side, and an 'Entire Work' button the left side.

For One-Shots: Go ahead and click the download button.

For multiple chapter fics: In order to have the fic download all together instead of downloading each chapter individually, make sure you select the 'Entire Work' button. Like the names says, it displays the entire work on the webpage, and will download the entire fic with all it's chapters in the correct order when you go to download.

Click the download button. You've got a couple of options:

AZW3 - Amazon-developed ebook format that is designed for Kindles and Amazon's systems. Good if you want to read off of a kindle.

EPUB - Standard file format for Ebooks and is basically used as the default for pretty much most ebook readers. This is what I prefer to use when downloading to my phone.

MOBI - An older version of the AZW3. Older but standard as well.

PDF - Downloads the fics as a PDF. Can be read anywhere you can open a PDF.

HTML - Downloads an offline version of the exact webpage you are looking at. Fine if you want to keep the 'look' of AO3 but you can't change the text size or reading style like you can with ebook formats.

Not sure which one to download? Use EPUB since it's standard and readable by pretty much everything, retains images too.

You now have your fic downloaded to your device and can read it on whatever reading app you have. YAY!

Do keep in mind that these are offline files that do not synch with Archive. So if you download an ongoing fic that updates or is edited since you last downloaded, you will need to download it again to have the updated version.

maybe if jason's or just everyone's pov in heroes of olympus was written in the first person's, they would've been liked way more? i swear I feel like if jason's pov was written that way, it would've been way more hilarious, and would've made his dry offhand remarks alot more funny? (like say, percy's 'i said hello to the poodle' it's sort of the dry kind of thing jason says in his chapters all the time, but they're not considered funny because it's told through third person limited) and even leo's humor would've been tripled. it was, in my opinion, a wasted opportunity truly.
